More - Virginia Recyclers Rewarded for Efforts

Ten people who recycle won prizes from the Virginia Recycling Association in celebration of America Recycles 2005, a national awareness campaign that generates excitement about recycling.

As a part of the campaign people are encouraged to pledge their commitment to recycle and buy more recycled products in the upcoming year. In return for their support, they can win environmentally friendly prizes made out of recycled items.

Recycling Coordinators across the state chose how to celebrate America Recycles where they live. In Virginia there were 37 events held in honor of America Recycles, as well as numerous newspaper ads, articles, television ads and radio commercials.

Governor Mark Warner proclaimed November 15th Virginia Recycles Day—a day where “businesses, government agencies, nonprofit organizations and individuals joined together to raise awareness about the need to reduce waste.”
