More- Tracy Elsass

“Our curbside recycling program serves 46,000 homes in James City County, Poquoson, Williamsburg, and York County through a contract with Tidewater Fibre Corporation. And then we have drop-off recycling available in 7 communities. VPPSA collects and hauls these materials,” says Elsass.

As Safety Officer Tracy maintains safety records and assists a Safety Committee with incident investigations.

You may also see her at local community events, festivals and fairs in the area where she educates the public about the various recycling opportunities in the VPPSA region. In her spare time (when she can find some) she enjoys canoeing, hiking and volunteering at the Virginia Living Museum. This fall, she will participate in the Memory Walk to benefit the Alzheimer's Association.

She has been a member of the VRA since 2002 and a SWANA member since 2003. She also participates in HR Clean, a regional organization that works cooperatively to educate the public about litter prevention and recycling.

Tracy graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in Animal Science. She previously worked for a private environmental testing laboratory that specialized in aquatic toxicity testing for industries striving to meet NPDES permit requirements.
