Retiring Board Members

VRA President Kelley Bartell Hope presented awards of appreciation for service to three retiring Board members. The awards, square slabs of recycled glass etched with the recipients’ names, were presented at the 2004 Annual Meeting on Thursday, October 27, 2004 during the annual conference. The contributions of these three members have been abundant during their terms of service to the Board and they will be missed. We wish them luck in their new endeavors.

  • Georgiana Ball
Georgiana first became involved with the VRA in 1994 while working at the Department of Environmental Quality. She served as an ex-officio for several terms before becoming president in 2002. As president, Georgiana focused her attention on improving the organization’s visibility through various outreach efforts and working to streamline administrative procedures. Georgiana has also played a strong role in coordinating three annual conferences. She also coordinated the regional workshops in 2003 and helped establish a toll-free telephone line for the VRA. Georgiana would like to continue working with the VRA as an ex-officio member of the Board to continue to promote recycling in the state.
  • Dori Brown
Dori moved to Virginia in 1999 when she accepted the position as recycling coordinator for the City of Newport News. In February 2000, she attended her first VRA meeting where she was elected president. After her term as president ended in 2002, she assumed the role of secretary, a position she has filled since that time. In August 2004, Dori was appointed to the Governor's Recycled Markets Development Council as the Recycling Industry representative. She has decided to transition off of the VRA board and into this new role in an effort to continue promoting recycling through different avenues. She promises to remain committed to the VRA and to step up and volunteer when needed.
  • Bruce Edmonds
Bruce is the recycling and litter manager for Rivanna Solid Waste Authority. He has been a member of the VRA for a number of years. Since becoming a board member in 2002, Bruce has worked to revise and update our bylaws to better reflect the current nature of the organization. Bruce was also appointed vice-president in June.
