of America Recycles 2004
America
Recycles 2004 concluded with the VRA’s pledge card drawing
on December 1. Seven prizes will be awarded, including a $500
gift certificate to Plastic Lumber Specialties. Virginia coordinators
sponsored at least 53 events, set up over 40 displays and
collected 1,500 pledge cards. All pledges have been forwarded
to America Recycles Day, Inc. for the national prize drawing
and the state report will be submitted by the deadline of
January 5th.

Conference Recap
On
October 27 and 28, 130 people assembled in Richmond for the
annual Virginia Recycling Association Conference and Trade
Show. The conference featured a number of informative sessions,
an exhibit hall of diverse recycling businesses, a silent
auction and an exciting fashion show and evening social. more

Couture Fashion Show
On October
27, Virginia Commonwealth University’s Fashion Design Department
joined the VRA to hold a recycled couture fashion show. Attended
by over 200 people at Richmond’s Renaissance Conference Center,
fashion merchandising students awed the audience with creative
outfits fashioned out of reused items. more

Our 2004
sponsors provided valuable funding that allowed conference
organizers to create a cost-efficient event for both the VRA
and conference attendees. In addition to companies located
around the state, a number of Richmond-based businesses and
organizations stepped forward to sponsor this event held in

Board Elections
The
2004 VRA Board of Directors election concluded Thursday, October
28. Three individuals were chosen by the membership to serve
the Board for a two-year term expiring December 2006. more

for service to three retiring Board members. more
